A downloadable game

We're now fully funded, and we were able to raise almost double our goal! The amount of support and enthusiasm the community has shown for this game has brought me to tears. As a new developer publishing my first project I can't express how much this has meant to me. The campaign is over, but we still have a few stretch goals we can work towards and late pledges are enabled if anyone wants to get access to some of the backer-exclusive rewards, like content updates to the beta!

The official Oneshot X Skyless Blind crossover update is almost here!

The boundary between universes is falling, one dying world spills into another... Introducing part one of the official OneShot X Skyless Blind crossover update, available July 15th to Kickstarter backers with the "Beta update access" reward tier or above! Drill across the universal barrier and collect OneShot themed items, face corrupted robot enemies, eat pancakes, ride a roomba, and more.

If Skyless Blind is fully funded, part two will follow shortly after the end of the campaign. It'll include an Alula cloak, a Niko plush you can combine with the roomba familiar, and more.

Skyless Blind is a stylized cosmic horror game set in a shattered universe. Explore the atmospheric ruins of incomprehensibly ancient worlds, meet mysterious characters and eldritch entities, unearth reality-bending artifacts, and uncover the dark truth behind the weeping stars of a broken cosmos in this Yume Nikki-like RPGMaker horror game.

Skyless Blind is about exploration and mystery, first and foremost. Inspired by and expanding upon the design philosophy of the cult classic indie game Yume Nikki, Skyless is structured as a series of open worlds rich in secrets and oddities to discover, connected through a nexus of interweaving portals. As you travel across the galaxy you’ll encounter new portals to deeper and darker worlds, collectable items to unlock new abilities or customize your appearance, friendly characters and hostile creatures, and fragments of lore to piece together the expansive mythos of the universe.

Mysterious ancient homes of bygone civilizations are scattered throughout the Blind, calling to be reclaimed and refurnished with trophies and artifacts collected from your travels. Cryptic puzzles and arcane mechanisms lay still in desolate wastes, silently guarding forgotten knowledge of eons past. Hidden away in the furthest and darkest reaches of space lie secret worlds of untold horrors, awaiting only the most determined of explorers.

To the few who still survive among the starlit ruins, the collapse of cosmic civilization is remembered as the "God Calamity." In a single moment, countless planets and stars were torn asunder by fingers of an unseen force—fingers that still cradle the mangled fragments in the sky, frozen against the flow of gravity. The universe had shattered like a pane of glass, and something beyond a veil of darkness is preventing it from healing. What caused this calamity, and why does the universe refuse to heal? The truth is in fragments—but the pieces are all out there, waiting to be put back together. Search for answers among the broken stars. Piece together the hidden history of an unfathomably ancient universe. Take back the skies that once belonged to your precursors.

Follow the journey of the anaklyte across eons—a starry-eyed civilization of biomechanical aliens that refused submission to a malicious cosmos.  Learn of their struggle to persist and connect the stars within a dark forest universe, their discovery of hidden physics within the deepest layers of reality, their mysterious origins and their connection to an eldritch entity known as the God Machine.

Many strange characters wander the the remnants of their bygone civilizations, all with unique stories to tell. Meet a psychovian witch who leads you on a quest to retrieve a lost artifact from a four-dimensional fissure, befriend the surreal plant-like stellacyte who grows throughout the ruins of a circumstellar particle accelerator, debate ethical philosophy with the last god of the Hyphysicalist Constructancy, and more.

If you enjoy the beta, consider supporting the creation of the full game on Kickstarter. This project means the world to me, and I'd be incredibly grateful for your support. I also plan to continue supporting the beta with consistent content updates, adding new worlds, features, and story, available to anyone who supports the kickstarter with the beta update access reward tier or above. I look forward to sharing the development journey of Skyless Blind with you all, I really think this will be a lot of fun.

If you'd like to follow the development of Skyless consider joining the Discord Server or following me on Twitter and Bluesky.

finally spent a couple hours playing today, and i'm stunned at the amount of quality content already in the demo! Yume Nikki is very close to my heart; between this game and Margin, i'm very happy to see wonderful new projects carrying on a niche 2004 indie game's legacy! ^^

the smell of underrated is strong on this one

I don't know if this was addressed yet, but there's a bug where text/scenes are repeated on loop without end, causing me to have to reopen the game

I love the style of the game tho, looks really promising :3

I came from reddit! Can't wait to try the beta out.

Aw thank you! Hope you like it <3

This game straight up replaced yume 2kki as a go-to relaxation game for me and that says a lot... I would normally write a long feedback stye review as Im a game dev myself but I've sunk into ur game really bad and I just wanted to let you know how special the experience was for me. I felt something while playing which definitely doesnt happen too often and even tho I wasnt sure about the idea at first I loved the way you wrote dialogues and got hooked. I paid attention to all the lore and I think I got the gist of it but it wasnt easy as everything is scattered across all those beautiful worlds... A notebook or something with all those lore entries would be great (maybe it's in the game and I just havent found it yet tho). I also kinda kept forgetting all the chests and doors I couldnt open and had to leave them behind so maybe something like yume 2kki world explorer with locations you already visited would be cool? I have no idea but you can count me in as an early bird :)
Thank you for making this! It inspired the hell out of me...
And good luck with your work!

Aww thank you so much <3 I'm so glad you're enjoying it! Replacing yume 2kki is incredibly high praise wow.

Also, there are notebook esque items you can find to keep track of the lore! There's an item in Oracle Machine world (red/pink area) that records whispering monolith excerpts, and there's a similar item for recording lore in the Sunless Garden (green area.) I'm planning to add more of these for the other worlds as well :p

I really liked the atmosphere and the soundtrack. The game reminds me of Hyper Light Drifter. I love the pixel art in this game. To be honest, I didn't understand anything about this game, maybe I'm just so stupid and I have problems with English. I think I'll keep playing.

Ahaha thank you, no you're not stupid at all it's a difficult game to understand. I'm trying to create a distinct world and I use a *lot* of original words to describe new concepts. All of the words have meaning, but you won't be able to immediately know what's going on because of that. You'll pick up clues and context as you explore, slowly learning more about the world around you, its history, and how it operates.
